Andy Lester – Guitars / Vocals
Ever since I picked up a copy of ‘The Eternal Fire of Jimi Hendrix’ in the early 1970’s I’ve been totally hooked on the voice of the electric guitar. It wasn’t Jimi’s ability with lighter fluid that attracted me, (although it did!) but his more subtle sonic landscapes such as Little Wing and Bold as Love which etched themselves into my bones where they have stayed ever since. I was also a fan of his voice, his almost sloppy yet heart felt delivery spoke to me and said ‘you can do it too!’ In the early 80’s Graham Jonston introduced me to Peter Green and the early Blue Horizon albums with which we spent many a late night.
Since that time there have been many many gigs, supporting the likes of Dr Feelgood, Mungo Jerry, Geno Washington and Joe Jackson, there have also been many late night jams and far too many hot curries. A life changing move to Kent a few years ago and discovering the creative scene in and around Canterbury spurred me on to write and record this album. People have said why didn’t I do this years ago, well the answers very simple, back then I didn’t really have much to say, unlike now (angst ridden 40’s sporn much better material than DNA spreading 20’s). My thanks go to all the great musicians and friends on the album but especially to my beautiful wife Nikki who’s inspiration and love I truly don’t deserve.
